Cheryl Baker, MSW, RSW
Registered Social Worker & Licensed Clinical Therapist
Hi and welcome. I’m so glad that you’ve found your way here. I’d like to tell you a little more about me and give you some idea of what you may be able to expect when we work together.
I’m Cheryl, an actively registered social worker, and I have been providing direct therapeutic counselling services for nearly 15 years in the field of mental health and addictions.
I have received a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfred Laurier University, Ontario and have completed the Bachelor of Social Work program from Memorial University of Newfoundland. I have also completed a Criminology Certificate from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Through my social work career I have been given so many opportunities to engage in advanced clinical therapy with individuals, couples, and families, of all ages, in various capacities. I bring a range of experiences, therapeutic skills, and education to each relationship. Some of the approaches that I often work from include motivational interviewing (MI), solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, recovery oriented approaches, and narrative therapy.
Forming strong, cohesive relationships with the people I work with is an important cornerstone for me. I strive to make you feel comfortable so that you can get the most out of our counselling experience. My goal is to always be person-centered: making sure that we act as partners where you are supported in making the choices that affect your life.
If this sounds like a good fit for you, I look forward to connecting!
